Child Deity Infanta Ball Jointed Doll
The Child Deity—chosen to represent the divine on earth, the child deity is worshipped across cultures in a variety of iterations. Infanta pays homage to these messengers from heaven in a look inspired by the hindu god, Shiva. Her body has been hand painted by artist Andrew Yang and coated with multiple layers of pearlescent and ultramarine pigment powders and sealed. Her body jewelry is repurposed indian antiques, and her hand sewn embroidered silk robe from a vintage sari. Her eyes are antique brown glass finished with hand applied lashes and her ebony human hair wig has been styled and braided into a removable topknot.
Pigment wear at the joints has been considered and the streaked nature of her paint emulates that of a child who has been hastily made up for a procession. The symbols on her head, a moth and a rising crescent moon, have secret meaning only known to the artist.
Infanta is an 18” ball jointed doll with 16 points of articulation from artist Andrew Yang in collaboration with sculptor Aida LeGrand of LeGrand Dolls.
